MCC - God Loves a Cheerful Giver

It is true, riches, and the increase of them,

are the gift of God. Yet great care is to be taken,

that what is intended for a blessing, do not turn into a curse.

John Wesley

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NIV)

Generosity Encouraged

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Psalm 24:1 (NLT)

Psalm 24

A psalm of David.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him.

Malachi 3:8-10 New International Version (NIV)

“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me.

“But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’

“In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

2 Chronicles 31:4-5 (NIV)

He ordered the people living in Jerusalem to give the portion due the priests and Levites so they could devote themselves to the Law of the Lord. As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously gave the firstfruits of their grain, new wine, olive oil and honey and all that the fields produced. They brought a great amount, a tithe of everything.
